In 2E 324, the Potentate Versidue-Shaie was murdered in his palace in Senchal.​ The mad king of Senchal, Dro'Zel (future Emperor adviser) summoned Molag Bal to destroy Gilverdale, a town in Valenwood, in 1E 2920. However, the city has recently been turned into a beautiful coastal sea resort, but it is unknown how much of the city has been changed by this transformation. During the time of the Flu entire neighborhoods were razed in an effort to cleanse Senchal, they have yet to be rebuilt. Big portions of the city are either abandoned or in ruins from the strain of Knahaten Flu in 2E 560. Senchal's most squalid and dangerous quarter is the Black Keirgo, where sugar-dens and addicts line the streets. Sadly, thieves, beggars, and Khajiit Moon Sugar addicts are all commonplace in Senchal. Senchal is a favorite of pirates and sea captains wishing to sell or buy illegal or black-market goods, it being much easier to smuggle goods into and out of the Empire by way of the Topal seas than the well guarded inland highways.

The city itself is an arrangment of bazzars, taverns, merchant quarters, and open-air markets ringed on three sides by crowded harbors. It can be found on the easternmost tip of Elsweyr's Quin'rawl, and serves as the largest port in Tamrial. Senchal is perhaps the most infamous of Elsweyr's cities.
